iGate Interview Experience - Feb, 2016
Hi there. So once before I start I want to say something, just remember this you want something just do it and stay on it till it completes any new film released. Once you start try your max to stay on it.
So now iGate, if written qualified you will have Technical+HR. I read almost all interview experience here before going. All of them mentioned 43 as cutoff or min 40+ as cutoff max will be filtered here.
I was very much frightened by reading them. Only before the day of exam did I read the sentence it will be easy and hence more cutoff and yes the written test questions are a bit easy. And yeah, I restate the one thing you need to crack for getting job is written. Practice, practice, and practice. Check your mistakes and practice in the area you made mistakes. For me Syllogisms, Synonyms, Antonyms were tough so I made sure I understood syllogisms clearly before going to exam.
Everyone please please with all your effort just get efficient in all written concepts. That is the gateway for interview. I say a guy with tears when his name wasn't called in the written cleared list. In order to avoid this, with all your might get pakka in written test.
From 2 in afternoon, we sat for interview and I got my chance at 8. I lost all the energy by then as I didn't eat lunch. So yeah when they give time just make sure you eat, you need energy for interview.
"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it - Paulo Coelho". It means if you really try for something with all your life universe itself will help you get it. This happened with me.
The other day while preparing quant, I say question in a 5*5 square floor, 1*1 tiles are arranged and we can see the margins of tiles, considering all those margins how many squares are there in entire floor. Ans 1^2 + 2^2 + .... + 5^2. I was like why would they ask this much tough question in written. No chance I thought.
While I entered the TI, I suddenly got energy donno why and when he asked if I was tired due to late and he offered me eatables on table, I donno I confidently blabbered I don't remember what, no sir I am excited of opportunity etc etc. And he said "This is the voice I wanted to here even at 7:30 in the evening". (note this point guys)
And he asked printf("%d"22); what will it print. I sheepishly thought why this easy question? and I uncertainly said 22. and he said no just check and asked what's this and I answered double and changed my answer to 22.00 and he said yes.
And NOW, he asks me number of squares in chess board, I said 64. He asked me to draw a chess board and shown 3*3, 4*4 squares and then I got the ding flash of that aptitude test and answered 1^2 + .... + 7^2 + 8^2. He said yes.
He asked me, types of sorting algorithms and I answered quickly, sort and merge and he asked me another one I said I doono. He asked me you know any sorting programs, I replied bubble sort and he said that's the 4th.
And he said if 2 of your members are not at all working and you are team lead what will you do, this I saw in similar int exp in IndiaBix, where the interviewer advised the student never complain to higher officials just give them smaller works and slowly motivate and give them bigger works and he said you are good to go and any question and I asked "any advice for me". This would give us info how we did interview :P he said good. And I felt too much happy and I started overaction I love IT. Its innovation/logics etc etc. He said you can do the same in your branch ECE/in business/everywhere. He said if Infosys offer you better package would you go. I said no I would strive to get better package here only. And one more similar question. The thing is when he said I can go I should have left but I did overaction and got bowled twice. So don't get over excited.
And HR is regular business.
My advice is after your preparation try to read all int exp make a list of different question asked and check if you can answer the question mentioned by candidates. Else prepare them.
And yeah today I have my name in list of selected candidates.
